Q:. Is the Camp Accredited?

A. Camp Azalea Trails is accredited by the American Camping Association. Camp accreditation is your assurance that the camp you choose has been evaluated and is nationally recognized in every area of operation and management. Girl Scouts of San Gorgonio Council camps are operated under camping standards of Girl Scouts of the USA and meet or exceed the standards of the local health department
Q:. What do the camp fees cover?

A. Camp fees are kept to a minimum and pay for some of the costs directly related to operating the camp, i.e., meals and lodging, program equipment, program supplies, transportation, employed staff, supplemental insurance, a camp T-shirt and patch.
Q:. Is there financial assistance available?

A. YES, to apply for camp financial assistance you must complete and send in the Camp Financial Assistance Form with the Camp Registration form and $25 placement fee for each camper.
Q:: Can I come to camp with a friend?

A. Yes, bring your BFF. There is a space on the registration form for your buddy’s name to be listed. You both need to be in the same age group and register for the same session. Sorry, we cannot honor requests for more than one pal.
Q:: Can I call home during the week?

A: There is little to no cell phone coverage at camp so please leave your iPhones and cell phone at home. Camp is a time for you to explore your own independence and self reliance. The Camp Director will contact your parents if you have a medical problem or an emergency
Q:: What are the camp staff like?

Are they trained?

A: Camp staff is enthusiastic, talented and caring. They are selected based on their maturity, program experience and genuine desire to work with girls like you. All counselors are at least 18 years old. Before camp begins, staff attend intensive on-site training, including activity programming, outdoor skills, songs, games, first aid and safety, emergency procedures, team building, program age level characteristics, dealing with homesickness and much more.
Q:: What health services are available?

A: There is always a qualified health supervisor on site. If illness or injury requires additional medical attention, there is a medical doctor on call for each camp. Your camper will be assisted in taking all prescribed medications. Resident camp participants are required to have physical examinations. Specific information and a medical form will be included in your confirmation packet
Q:: I have special needs. Can I come to camp?

A: Yes! Each year, many girls with special needs are able to participate in our camp program. Special needs may include physical, medical, developmental, dietary, behavioral or communicative. For details, ask your parent or guardian to call Girl Scouts of San Gorgonio Council at (800) 400-4475 to talk about the details.
Q:: How do campers get to camp?

A: You must provide transportation to our Council Service Center in Redlands. From there a bus transports campers to camp from and returns to the Council Service Center in Redlands.
Q:: What is the daily schedule like at camp?

A: The schedule will vary a little based on the camp and the program you are in but should shake up like this: 7:00 a.m. Wake Up 8:00 a.m. Breakfast/Flag Ceremony/Kapers 9:30 a.m. Morning Activities 12:30 p.m. Lunch/Down Time 2:30 p.m. Afternoon Activities/Unit Time 6:00 p.m. Dinner/Flag Ceremony 7:15 p.m. All Camp Activity 9:30 p.m. Quiet Time
Q:: Where will I sleep?

A: You will be grouped in program units and will sleep in 4-person dome tents…the only way to camp. Your unit will be led by specially-trained counselors, housed in separate quarters within the unit, but close enough to supervise campers.
Q:. What is the food like at camp?

A. We are happy to announce that new for this year you will experience catered meals by Lone Star Cafe. Menu selections will follow USDA guidelines for healthy eating. Meals will include fresh fruits and vegetables and a variety of ethnic dishes and camp favorites.
Q:: Can my parents come to visit during a camp session?

A: Sorry, no parents. To help program continuity and maintain security, visitors are allowed at camp during open house only. Do not worry, you will make plenty of new camp friends and forget all about your parents in no time.
Q: Can we visit Camp Azalea Trails?

A: Yes, there is an Open House on June 28, 2008 from 11-2 PM. Tours begin at the beginning of every hour. This is the only time to visit camp.
