Girl Scout Membership
Membership
Girl Scouting is open to all girls ages 5 to 17 as well as to adults 18 years and older who believe in the Girl Scout Promise and Girl Scout Law. Lifetime membership is available to adult members 18 and over and to graduating Senior Girl Scouts.Members pay annual membership dues of $10.00 that is sent directly to the national organization, Girl Scouts of the USA. Individual councils do not retain this fee. Note: no girl is denied membership due to financial hardship.
Through the help of adult volunteers, girls will learn qualities that will last throughout their lives. The Girl Scout program focuses on building girls of courage , character and confidence through activities that allow each girl to focus on what interests her most. From traveling and cultural exchange, local community events and service projects, sports skill-building activities, career mentoring partnerships and environmental and financial education, the Girl Scout program enables girls to engage in areas important to her.
Girl Membership Options
A girl can participate in Girl Scouting in a variety of ways. She can become involved in a troop along with other girls and join in activities and learning experiences together or she can register as an independently registered girl, or Juliette, and participate in events and programs of her choosing at her own pace with the help of an adult parent or guardian.Troops
Troops are lead by adult volunteers who have chosen to share their time and talents to enrich the lives of girls through the Girl Scout program. Troops vary in size. They should be large enough to provide a meaningful experience in self-governance, but small enough to allow for individual growth and development.Troops usually meet weekly or bi-weekly, but should be often enough to meet the needs and interests of the girls and to maintain continuity of their program experience. These meetings and other activities are scheduled and planned by the leaders in partnership with the parents and adults working with them. Please contact the Council office for further information.
Juliette Girl Scouts, Individual Girl Members
Girls register as a Juliette Girl Scout as they wait to be placed in a troop or because they want the flexibility of participating at their own pace concentrating on topics that most interest them. With the support of the Council's Juliette Coordinator and local service area coordinators, girls will receive information on what they can do as a Girl Scout and can choose to receive quarterly newsletters designed just for them, with fun activities, ideas and updates including Council events. For more information, please contact the Council's Juliette Coordinator at

Adult Membership
Girl Scouting would not be possible without the help of adult volunteers. Adult membership is extended to men and women 18 years and older and can mean something different for each person. Not all volunteers are troop leaders and not all troop leaders are parents. Adults can volunteer their time in many different ways. They can work directly with girls by being a troop leader, being a mentor or by teaching a workshop helping girls learn skills that you are passionate about. Volunteers can help local service areas with Web site designs, provide administrative assistance at service area meetings, assist in recruiting new members and help at local events.Research shows that the influence one caring adult has on a child will last them a lifetime.us today to find out more information about Volunteering!
