Q. Why should I volunteer for Girl Scouts?

A. You can meet new friends, be a mentor, acquire new skills, share your talents, gain professional development opportunities and free training, have fun and give back to your community! Most of all, you will help make a difference...one girl at a time!

 

 

Q. Who can volunteer?

A. Any adult who has a genuine interest in making a positive difference in the lives of girls.

 

 

Q. How much time is involved as a Girl Scout volunteer?

A. Flexibility is the key for all Girl Scout volunteers. You can volunteer in the areas that interest you the most when you have the time. Take a look at the different ways you can help out!

 

 

Q. Do I have to be a Girl Scout Leader?

A. You can help make a difference in the lives of girls in a variety of ways. Whether giving your time to organize troop meetings or helping out in the office, your contributions are needed and valued! Take a look at the different way you can help out!

 

 

Q. Will I be trained?

A. Yes! One of the many benefits of being a Girl Scout volunteer is the opportunity to learn new skills. Training is free or at nominal cost. Volunteers can take basic classes and advanced-specialized courses to meet your needs and the needs of the organization. Basic training includes three courses:

  • Volunteer Essentials
  • Troop Module
  • Leadership Essentials

 

 

Q. Do I have to wear a uniform?

A. A uniform is not required to participate in Girl Scouting; however, wearing your Girl Scout pin is a great way to show pride in our organization.

 

 

Q. How much will it cost?

A. The basic cost for annual membership is $10 for both girls and adults.* Other costs depend on planned activities that are budgeted by each troop/group.

 

*Annual national membership dues are established by Girl Scouts of the USA. The membership fee will increase to $12 per person for the 2009-2010 membership year.

 

 

Q. Who will help me?

A. We'll be with you every step of the way! Girl Scouts of San Gorgonio Council provides support from staff and experienced Girl Scout volunteers in your area. Questions are always welcomed!

 

 

Q. Do I have to sell cookies?

A. The Girl Scout Cookie Program is not required; however, it is a great way to earn money to fund Girl Scout activities.
