Troop Leadership

You can help girls out by becoming a Troop Leader, Assistant Leader or Co-Leader.

Troop Leader

Troop Leaders facilitate a troop’s journey towards leadership development, allowing for individual development of interests, skills and leadership ability. They foster self-esteem and discovery of self, values and goals. They also advise the troop on resources/opportunities available so girls can connect with their feelings, one another, the community and the world. Troop Leaders foster girl-led activities while leading the troop to take action in expressing the Girl Scout ideals. They serve as role models to girls, and adhere to Council and national policies and procedures.  In addition, they develop personal skills through training and keep up-to-date on new program materials. The Troop Leader shares troop responsibilities with a Co-Leader or Assistant Leader.

Time:

- Depends on frequency and duration of troop meetings.  Leader urged to engage parents of girls in troop to assist with troop activities. Recommended one-year commitment, Oct. 1 through Sept. 30--may be shorter based on the needs of the troop.

Benefit:

- Become trusted role model/advisor to girls in troop by making a difference in their lives. Gain valuable skills in communication with girls and adults, and the organization and planning of activities.  Socialize, travel and have fun!
