Cabinets & Committees

There are multiple cabinets and committees that would benefit from the time and talents of dedicated volunteers.

KEY VOLUNTEER

A Key Volunteer may choose to give their time in any of the many positions related to the cookie program, communication and public relations, fundraising, training, event planning and more!  They serve as role models to girls, and adhere to Council and national policies and procedures.

  • Time: Flexible hours of 3 to 8 hours a month.

  • Benefit: Support Girl Scout Council in promotion and enhancement of the Girl Scout experience of leadership development.

COMMITTEE MEMBER

A number of volunteers are needed each year to help direct decisions behind-the-scenes in Girl Scouting. Committee opportunities include fund development, marketing, membership, diversity, technology and more.  Committee members are asked to follow Council and national policies and procedures.

  • Time: Appointment is ad hoc, with flexible hours of 3 to 8 hours a month, depending on committee and assumed duties.

  • Benefit: Help Council promote Girl Scouts and improve fundraising, membership and public relations/communication efforts.

BOARD OF DIRECTORS/BOARD COMMITTEE VOLUNTEER

Members of the Board of Directors and its committees assists in the strategic governance of Girl Scouts of San Gorgonio Council with the aid of staff and input from membership, serving as conduit for the Council’s current and future viability.  Members attend necessary meetings/events (i.e., association and annual meetings) to encourage two-way communication between Board Members and general membership.  Members of the Board of Directors serve as role models and adhere to Council and national policies and procedures.

  • Time: Board Members are elected by voting members of the Council for a term of three years, with no more than two consecutive terms. Elected Board Members must attend bimonthly meetings at the Executive Offices in Redlands—schedule of meetings to be determined annually—as well as Board retreats, committee meetings, and other meetings/events necessary to carry out assumed responsibilities. Committees usually meet monthly or bimonthly.

  • Benefit: Opportunity to share expertise working towards the advancement of the nation’s largest pre-eminent organization for girls.

The standing committees of the Board of Directors are:

* Audit Committee

* Finance Committee

* Bylaws Committee

* Property Committee

* Fund Development Committee

You do not have to be a member of the Board of Directors to serve on one of these committees.

FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT VOLUNTEER

A Financial Management Volunteer uses their financial skills to assist adult volunteers by keeping accurate records for a Girl Scout troop/group, balancing the Girl Scout troop/group checking account, and completing the end-of-the-year financial report for the Girl Scout troop/group.  All volunteers are asked to follow Council and national policies and procedures.

  • Time: Recommended one-year commitment, Oct. 1 through Sept. 30--may be shorter based on the needs of the troop--with flexible hours of 3 to 5 hours a month.

  • Benefit: Safeguard troop/group money while allowing Girl Scout Troop Leaders to direct full attention to their girls.
