Even when Juliette Gordon Low founded Girl Scouts almost 100 years ago, she was a woman ahead of her time. She was a doer, an agent of change and a woman driven to change her world.In developing the Girl Scout movement in the United States, Juliette brought girls of all backgrounds into the out-of-doors, giving them the opportunity to develop self-reliance and resourcefulness. Girl Scouting welcomed girls with disabilities at a time when they were
excluded from many other activities. From the original 18 girls, Girl Scouting has grown to 3.7 million members. Girl Scouts is the largest educational organization for girls in the world and has influenced the more than 50 million girls, women and men who have belonged to it. Girls can do anything and Girl Scouts provides the vehicle to do it. We will match you up with an adult mentor, Gold award project advisor or troop volunteer. In small all-girl groups, you will plan and DO a gazillion different things. You may just fall in love with an activity that will take you down the path towards a field of study or career you never thought possible. You just may decide that you tried something and didn’t like it, but at least you tried. And you just may change the world as Juliette did.

Pathways offer six different ways for girls to participate in Girl Scouting. Girls can choose to follow some or all of these Pathways within a single year. The Girl Scout community nationwide continues developing new approaches to ensure that girls and adults can participate in Girl Scouting in a variety of ways that meet individual needs.
Girls are given the opportunity to explore their skills and interests, and inspired to reach their personal best, through a variety of fun and enriching leadership experiences.
No matter where and or how they participate, girls get the necessary guidance they need from adult volunteers and Council staff to develop their leadership skills and understand how those skills can be used to make a difference in the world.

It’s time to take flight with the Girl Scouts of San Gorgonio Council! Every girl is encouraged to explore the possibilities for local and nationwide travel, and explore the world through international trips to Council-sponsored destinations.
Troop money for personalized excursions can come from cookie sales and fundraising efforts. Over the years, Girl Scout troops from San Gorgonio Council have visited every corner of California and dozens of places around the United States. Past and current Girl Scout troops have explored the intricacies of Parisian streets and greeted the shaggy faces of Highland cattle in Scotland. Girls have earned excursions for an authentic Hawaiian luau and journeyed to the 10 provinces of our Canadian neighbors. Still other troops have voyaged in comfort aboard adventure cruises to Alaska or Mexico. The destinations are as real as a girl’s imagination is great.
In addition to troop travel, the San Gorgonio Council provides Council-sponsored destinations that change yearly.This rotation allows girls and troops to save money between trips, so they have an opportunity to experience all sponsored excursions.
Girl Scout travel endows girls with more than just fond memories; they also experience foreign languages, cuisines and cultures first-hand by actively participating in community service projects. Projects can address the social or environmental issues of the local and wider community.
In the United States, only 30 percent of its 308 million-plus citizens hold a passport. This is a discouraging statistic when compared to 60 percent for Canada’s citizens and 75 percent for those from the United Kingdom. In our interconnected economy and global culture, experience outside of the United States is an invaluable asset to future leaders, entrepreneurs and professionals.
International travel with Girl Scouts of San Gorgonio broadens girls’ horizons – literally – and creates new frames of reference for understanding their roles in a world of 6.8 billion people.

The Girl Scout Gold Award is the highest award that a Girl Scout may earn. Someone once described the Girl Scout Gold Award as being "what you really want to be remembered for" in Girl Scouting.
By earning your Gold Award, you are building the foundation for a lifetime of achievment. You gain important skills in leadership, management, organization, community service and more.
Our Gold Award girls are among a very elite group of young women who have earned this prestigious award as only 5% of Girl Scouts nationwide achieve this honor.

This is your personal action plan, not someone else’s. The project you choose should reflect what you are passionate about and make a lasting impact on your community.
The project should challenge you! It should not be something so simple that you don’t feel challenged, nor should it be so difficult that it is overwhelming.
Planning and organization will make your project a success.
Along the way, ask, “What am I learning about myself?” You should also consider that your project should reflect:
* Organizational skills
* Improvement of leadership skills
* Management skills
* Impact on others
* Impact on community
* Impact on future
* Ways to improve skills and talents
* Relation to the Girl Scout Promise and Girl Scout Law
